Every December I make the same promise to myself: fewer gifts that get forgotten by January, more gifts that actually get used. With five children, a husband, teachers, neighbours and the friends who host us, my list is long, and I don't have time to scroll for hours.
So I made the guide I wish I had. Every gift below is something I would happily give my own family. Each one is made or sold by a small business and ships from within Canada, so there are no duties or surprise customs fees at the door.
Quick tip: order by December 5 for Christmas delivery across Canada, and add a gift note in your cart. Shipping is a flat $12 anywhere in Canada, and free on orders of $100 or more.
Gifts for Mom
The mom in your life looks after everyone else. The best gift is a little time that is just for her.
- Spa in a Box ($35.99). Six handmade treats in one box: soap, a small soy candle, lip balm, facial scrub, scrubbies and a shower puck. Choose from three scents. It's the kind of gift a mom rarely buys for herself.
- The Kootenay Sampler (from $50). Wildcrafted teas and organic elderberry hot chocolate from a small maker in the mountains of British Columbia. Perfect for quiet evenings once the house finally settles down.

Gifts for Dad
Dads are famously hard to shop for. My rule: choose something practical that he'll use every week.
- Beard Care Starter Kit ($59). A full-size beard oil, beard balm and wooden comb, made in small batches in Canada. Pick the scent he'll like.

Gifts for babies, toddlers and kids
The toys children come back to are usually the simplest ones: things to stack, sort and build.
- Montessori Play Box, 13-15 months ($75.60). Six learning toys for the stacking, banging and opening stage, all in one box. A lovely first-birthday or Christmas gift.
- Baby Bunny Gift Set ($99). An organic muslin bonnet, swaddle and plush bunny in a ready-to-give box for a new arrival.
- Simply Sage New Baby Gift Box ($130). Six practical pieces handmade by women-owned small businesses, with a card introducing the makers.
- Canada Map Wooden Puzzle ($44.99). Handmade in Canada, with animal-shaped pieces that lift out to reveal the provinces and capitals. For ages 4 to 8.

How I choose every gift
- Useful first. If it won't be used by February, it doesn't make the list.
- Made with care. Most gifts come from small makers, many of them Canadian.
- Shipped from Canada. No duties and no customs fees at the door.

Yes. Add a note in your cart before you check out.
Do you ship outside Canada?
Not yet. Gracefold ships to addresses within Canada only.
Wishing your family a calm and joyful season,
